Curious Why I’m Rising From this Ancient Roman Well?

In the Next “Getting to Know You” Email You’ll Discover:

– Why I’m inside an ancient Roman well

– That I enjoyed a wine and food pairing dinner at the bottom of this well …

– Why I based my paranormal cozy mystery “Poisoned in Provence” on my experience here

HEADLINE:

Welcome back!

Last time we spoke, I explained that I had a wine-pairing dinner inside this ancient Roman well.

Crazy as it sounds, many “normal” neighborhoods and modern houses in Europe have ancient wells in their front or back yards. This family renovated the well to be an area for entertaining visitors.

Once a guest (me) climbed down the ladder leaning against its interior, the space at the bottom was the size of a modern living room. It was an old cave, really, and the hosts had to hoist the food and wine down by a rope.

And as I was enjoying the cuisine, the host told me that during WWII it was used by family members to hide during a time of occupation.

The host even mentioned a family “ghost” that still haunted the place.

Did I see the ghost? Not during my visit.

But the ghost did work its way into Poisoned in Provence, and I’ll explain why I could “see” this ghost in the next and final missive.

Welcome back!

By now, you already know that

1. I write cozy paranormal mysteries
2. I base my mysteries on my “real-life” experiences as a travel writer
3. I can “see” ghosts.

What?!

Allow an explanation.

The UCLA Experiment

When I was at UCLA (studying English not parapsychology) I took a parapsychology class.

One evening, teachers instructed us to take home an electrode that measured REM – rapid eye movement – while I slept.

That night, I attached the electrode before sleeping. In the living room, a classmate watched a special monitor for when the REM happened.

This meant I was dreaming.
At that moment, the classmate would make a sketch, and use his mental powers to “send” it to me in a dream.

After the REM finished, he woke me up and asked me to tell my dream in a recorder.

While my dream did not have “all” the elements of his sketch, it was enough to convince me that I was psychic – and confirm what I’d been told all my life.

In the cozy Silenced in Salem I played the “real life” role of myself as a travel journalist (one who specialized in the culinary sector of travel).

And that book’s key scene of a seance in an ancient Salem boutique hotel really happened. (not the murder, though).

All your favorite cozy paranormal mystery books I write are based on true visits. Yet how much of the supernatural I experienced, and how much of it came from my imagination, you’ll have to see for yourself.

That’s it – We’ve come to know one another! Next week, you’ll find yourself a regular “VIP Catster” and you will receive the regular Tuesday email.
